“Those who spend (freely) whether in prosperity or in adversity; who restrain their anger and pardon men; And Allah loves those who do good. “(Noble Qur’an, 3:134) Anger is a mental condition that provokes the excitement of man in words and deeds.
Uncontrolled anger can make both you and other people feel lousy. If your outbursts, anger or frustrations are negatively affecting relationships then you should real consider anger management in Ramadan.
In Ramadan you should refrain from being irrational and reacting aggressively toward anyone who confronts us is really a very bad habit. Because when you reconsider your reaction afterward, you feel guilty and filled with shame because your reaction did not make you feel like a good Muslim at all, especially in Ramadan when you should be working on anger management.
It was narrated by Abu Hurairah that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The strong person is not the one who overcomes people by his strength, but the strong person is the one who controls himself in anger" (Al-Bukhari).
Best ways to restrain from anger in Ramadan:
- When in anger you should go perform wudu
- You should change the topic
- When in anger go say your prayers
- In hadith we find that Prophet (pbuh) used to change his position when he (pbuh) used to be in anger. For example if you are sitting lie down and if you are lying down you should stand up.
In Ramadan we should make a conscious effort to work on our anger issues.
