eid mubarak

Muslims celebrate many religious festivals which includes Eid ul Fitar, Eid ul Adha, Eid Milad un Nabi, Shab-barat and Shab-e-Miraj. Eid-ul-Fitar and Eid-ul-Adha are the two festivals that comes one after other. The first one is celebrated after fasting in the month of Ramadan and it is consider as a gift by Allah Almighty for those who fast throughout the month of Ramadan. Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated after Hajj and muslims sacrifice animals like goat, sheep, cows, camel etc.

that is why it is also called the feast of sacrifice. According to Islamic lunar calendar, Eid-ul-Adha falls on the 10th of Zil Hajj and usually the celebrations of the eid lasts for four days.  This day is celebrated to honor the willingness of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) to sacrifise his son Hazrat Ismail (A.S) for the sake of Allah. This is an example for the entire Muslim world that we should bow before every order given by Allah and thus The Almighty will reward after. The festival is celebrated by doing several things like sacrificing animals, wearing new clothes, attending feasts, meeting and greeting friends and relatives etc.

The day starts with prayer in the morning just to thank Allah for all the things He has blessed us with. All the Muslims offer Eid prayer in Eid gah which gives the lesson of brotherhood and unity. All the Muslims stand together without any discrimination. After offering prayer, they meet and greet each other and rush towards their houses for completing the sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S). The kids are usually more impatient for Eid-ul-Adha because they want to stroll with the animal in streets that give them extreme happiness. But at the time of sacrifice, they become sad and many start crying seeing their beloved animal under the knife.

The Muslim females also wear new clothes according to the trend and wear jewelry, heena, new shoes etc. Sweet dishes are also an important part of the celebrations of eid-ul-Adha. The meat of the sacrificed animal is cooked on the day and all eat it with great delight. Female members make various dishes with the meat which all the family members enjoy.

The meat is also distributed among the friends, the poor, relatives etc. According to Islam, the meat should be divided into three equal parts and distributed equally to the needy and friends and relatives. The families also arrange BB’Q nights for their loved ones and relatives. Young boys and girls also invite their friends on parties on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha.

This arouses the sense of unity and brotherhood among them. The kids get eidi from their elders on this special day and the happiness on their faces after getting eidi is worth watching. They spend that money buying eatables from different stalls in streets and roads. These stalls are particularly arranged for the occasion and children get amuse for them. The young girls wear bangles and stroll here and there making sweet noise of “Chan Chan”. The celebration lasts for four days and these four days are remarkable as everyone enjoys it very well.

On this special occasion, we should not neglect those who can not afford animal (for sacrifice) and also the poor who do not wear new clothes due to their financial problems. Being a Muslim, we should share the happiness of every eid with the needy and those who deserve by helping them in buying new clothes. This will not only give self satisfaction, but also lead us to the jannah at the Day of Judgment. May Allah give us strength to help these people and the happiness of the festival gets double.
